Lovir

Lovir contains Aciclovir, a synthetic purine nucleoside analogue with in vitro and in vivo inhibitory activity against human herpes viruses, including herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, and varicella zoster virus. It works by interfering with viral DNA synthesis to stop viral replication.

Dosage by Body Weight

Dosage varies depending on the indication (HSV vs. Varicella) and patient age. Adults typically take 200 mg to 800 mg four to five times daily. Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms resolve earlier. Pediatric dosing is often weight-based at 20 mg/kg per dose (up to 800 mg) four times daily for varicella.
