Furohexal

Furohexal contains furosemide, which is a loop diuretic (water pill) that prevents your body from absorbing too much salt. This allows the salt to instead be passed in your urine. Furohexal is used to treat fluid overload and swelling caused by heart, kidney, or liver disease, and is also prescribed to lower high blood pressure.

Dosage by Body Weight

The dosage of Furohexal is highly individualized and must be determined by a healthcare professional. For adults, the typical starting dose for edema is 20 mg to 80 mg as a single dose. Pediatric doses are carefully calculated based on body weight, starting at 1 to 2 mg/kg per day up to a maximum of 6 mg/kg per day.
