Doxolin

Doxolin contains Doxofylline, a methylxanthine bronchodilator. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the bronchial airways, thereby decreasing airway resistance and facilitating easier breathing. Unlike older xanthines, it has a lower affinity for adenosine receptors, resulting in fewer cardiac and central nervous system side effects.

Dosage by Body Weight

Adults typically take 400 mg once daily, preferably in the evening, though some patients may require 400 mg twice daily. Pediatric dosage is calculated based on body weight (typically 12-18 mg/kg per day divided into two doses) and should only be administered under strict medical supervision.
