Darunavir

Darunavir is an HIV-1 protease inhibitor. It blocks the HIV protease enzyme, which prevents the virus from replicating and reduces the viral load in the body. It must always be taken with a pharmacokinetic enhancer (booster) such as ritonavir or cobicistat, alongside other antiretrovirals to prevent drug resistance.

Dosage by Body Weight

Adults: Typically 800 mg once daily with cobicistat 150 mg or ritonavir 100 mg, taken with food. For treatment-experienced adults with certain mutations, 600 mg twice daily with ritonavir 100 mg twice daily. Pediatric dosing is based on body weight and must be taken with ritonavir twice daily.
