Cycloset

Cycloset contains bromocriptine mesylate, a dopamine D2 receptor agonist. It is a quick-release oral tablet formulation specifically indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes. Unlike other diabetes medications, Cycloset acts on the central nervous system to help modulate morning dopaminergic activity, which is believed to improve insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism.

Dosage by Body Weight

The standard starting dose is 0.8 mg (1 tablet) taken orally once daily within 2 hours of waking up in the morning, always with food to minimize nausea. The dosage is typically titrated weekly by adding 0.8 mg per day until a maintenance dose of 1.6 mg to 4.8 mg (2 to 6 tablets) daily is reached, based on efficacy and tolerability.
