Canasa
Canasa (mesalamine) is an aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory drug prescribed for the treatment of active mild to moderate ulcerative proctitis. It works locally in the rectum to reduce swelling and inflammation.
Dosage by Body Weight
The standard adult dosage is one 1000 mg rectal suppository administered once daily at bedtime. The suppository should be retained for at least one to two hours for optimal effect. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established.
