Bromhexine is a prodrug of ambroxol. It increases the production of serous mucus in the respiratory tract and makes the phlegm thinner and less sticky.

Dosage by Body Weight

For children 2-5 years: 4 mg three times daily. For 5-12 years: 8 mg three times daily.
