Biltricide
Biltricide contains praziquantel, an anthelmintic active against trematodes (flukes) and cestodes (tapeworms). It works by increasing the permeability of the cell membranes of parasite cells, leading to rapid calcium influx, severe spasms, and paralysis of the parasite's muscles, which causes detachment and subsequent destruction of the organism by the host's immune system.
Dosage by Body Weight
The standard dosage for Schistosomiasis is 20 mg/kg of body weight administered three times a day for one day, spaced 4 to 6 hours apart. For liver flukes, the standard dose is 25 mg/kg three times a day for one day. Tablets are tri-scored (with three cuts) to easily divide them into four 150 mg segments. Take with water during meals; do not chew.
