Asmanex Twisthaler
Asmanex Twisthaler is a dry powder inhaler containing mometasone furoate, an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS). It works by reducing swelling and irritation in the airways to help control and prevent asthma symptoms. It is a controller medication and is not intended to treat sudden, acute asthma attacks.
Dosage by Body Weight
Dosage is individualized based on asthma severity and age, not primarily by body weight. For adults and adolescents aged 12 and older, the recommended starting dose is 220 mcg inhaled once daily in the evening (maximum 440 mcg/day). For children aged 4 to 11 years, the recommended dose is 110 mcg once daily in the evening. Patients must rinse their mouth with water and spit it out after inhalation to reduce the risk of oral candidiasis (thrush).
