Qvar

Qvar is an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) prescribed for the long-term management and prevention of asthma symptoms in adults and children aged 4 years and older. It works directly in the lungs to decrease swelling and irritation in the airways. Qvar is a controller medication and must be used regularly to be effective; it will not stop an asthma attack once it has started.

Dosage by Body Weight

Administered via oral inhalation. The typical starting dose for adults and adolescents is 40 to 80 mcg twice daily, with a maximum dose of 320 mcg twice daily. For children aged 4 to 11 years, the starting dose is usually 40 mcg twice daily, with a maximum of 80 mcg twice daily. Always rinse the mouth with water and spit it out after each inhalation to prevent oral thrush.
