Nirsevimab

Nirsevimab is a long-acting recombinant human IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody that provides passive immunization against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). It works by binding to the prefusion conformation of the RSV fusion (F) glycoprotein, thereby neutralizing the virus and preventing it from entering host cells. Unlike active vaccines, it provides immediate protection, which is particularly beneficial for infants with developing immune systems.

Dosage by Body Weight

Administered as a single intramuscular (IM) injection, preferably in the anterolateral aspect of the thigh. Dosage is based on body weight for infants entering their first RSV season, while a specific dose is designated for vulnerable children entering their second RSV season.
