Indacaterol
Indacaterol is an ultra-long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (ultra-LABA) used for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the airways in the lungs, making breathing easier. It has a rapid onset of action (within 5 minutes) and a duration of 24 hours, allowing for once-daily dosing. It is not a rescue medication and should not be used to treat acute bronchospasm.
Dosage by Body Weight
Standard adult dose is 75 mcg to 150 mcg inhaled once daily at the same time each day using the manufacturer's specific inhalation device. Do not swallow the capsules. Safe use and efficacy have not been established in pediatric populations.
