Xtampza ER
Xtampza ER is an abuse-deterrent, extended-release oral formulation of oxycodone, a strong prescription pain medicine (opioid). It is designed to release the medication slowly over 12 hours using microspheres to deter common methods of abuse such as crushing, chewing, or dissolving.
Dosage by Body Weight
Xtampza ER must be taken with food to ensure adequate absorption of the drug. The capsules must be swallowed whole, or alternatively, opened and the contents sprinkled onto soft foods (like applesauce) or administered through a feeding tube. Do not crush, chew, or dissolve the capsule contents, as this can cause a rapid, potentially fatal release of oxycodone.
