Vibramycin

Vibramycin is a brand name for doxycycline, a broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It is effective against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as certain other organisms like rickettsiae and chlamydiae.

Dosage by Body Weight

For adults, the usual oral dose is 200 mg on the first day (administered 100 mg every 12 hours) followed by a maintenance dose of 100 mg daily. For pediatric patients weighing less than 45 kg with severe or life-threatening infections, the recommended dosage is 2.2 mg/kg of body weight administered every 12 hours.
