Stimate
Stimate is a high-concentration intranasal formulation of desmopressin acetate (1.5 mg/mL), a synthetic analogue of the hormone vasopressin. It works by stimulating the release of endogenous factor VIII and von Willebrand factor from cellular storage sites into the plasma. It is specifically indicated for patients with mild to moderate hemophilia A or Type I von Willebrand's disease who have responsive factor levels.
Dosage by Body Weight
Administered intranasally. For patients weighing less than 50 kg, the standard dose is 1 spray (150 mcg) into a single nostril. For patients weighing 50 kg or more, the dose is 2 sprays (300 mcg, administered as 1 spray in each nostril). Fluid restriction must be strictly enforced starting 1 hour before administration and continuing for at least 24 hours after to prevent severe hyponatremia.
