Steglatro

Steglatro contains ertugliflozin, an inhibitor of the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2). SGLT2 is the primary transporter responsible for reabsorbing glucose from the glomerular filtrate back into the circulation. By inhibiting SGLT2, ertugliflozin reduces renal reabsorption of filtered glucose and lowers the renal threshold for glucose, thereby increasing urinary glucose excretion and lowering blood glucose levels.

Dosage by Body Weight

The recommended starting dose of Steglatro is 5 mg once daily in the morning, taken with or without food. In patients tolerating Steglatro 5 mg once daily who require additional glycemic control, the dose may be increased to 15 mg once daily. Assess renal function prior to initiation and periodically thereafter.
