Purixan

Purixan (mercaptopurine) is an antineoplastic antimetabolite (purine antagonist) formulated as an oral suspension (20 mg/mL). It is designed to provide accurate and consistent dosing for pediatric and adult patients undergoing maintenance therapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

Dosage by Body Weight

The standard starting dose of Purixan is 1.5 to 2.5 mg/kg (or 50 to 75 mg/m² of body surface area) taken orally once daily. Doses must be individualized based on clinical response, hematological tolerance, and genetic factors such as TPMT or NUDT15 deficiency. It should be taken on an empty stomach, either 1 hour before or 2 hours after food or milk.
