Povidone Iodine

Povidone-iodine is a broad-spectrum antiseptic for topical application. It is a chemical complex of polyvinylpyrrolidone (povidone) and elemental iodine. It works by slowly releasing iodine which kills or prevents the growth of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa.

Dosage by Body Weight

For topical formulations, apply a small amount to the affected area 1 to 3 times daily. May be covered with a sterile bandage. For gargles, dilute as instructed and rinse for 30 seconds, then spit out; do not swallow. Topical application is not dosed by body weight.
