Palladone

Palladone is an extended-release formulation of hydromorphone hydrochloride, a highly potent Schedule II opioid agonist. It is designed for once-daily administration to manage severe chronic pain in patients who are already tolerant to opioid therapy. Note: Palladone was voluntarily withdrawn from the US market in 2005 due to the risk of rapid drug release ('dose dumping') when co-ingested with alcohol, but it remains a historically significant formulation of hydromorphone.

Dosage by Body Weight

Swallowed whole once daily. Strictly contraindicated in pediatric patients and non-opioid-tolerant patients. Must not be crushed, dissolved, or chewed. Consumption of alcohol during treatment is strictly prohibited due to fatal overdose risk.
