Open Food Challenge

An Open Food Challenge is a medical diagnostic procedure and the gold standard for identifying food allergies. Under direct medical supervision in a clinical setting equipped to handle anaphylaxis, a patient is given gradually increasing amounts of a suspected food allergen to observe if an allergic reaction occurs.

Dosage by Body Weight

Dosing is not standardized by body weight but is instead determined by established clinical titration protocols. The patient is typically given 5 to 6 escalating doses of the food allergen (starting from a tiny speck or drop up to a full age-appropriate serving) at 15 to 30-minute intervals.
