Kristalose

Kristalose is a prescription brand-name laxative containing lactulose, a synthetic sugar. It is used to treat constipation by drawing water into the colon to soften stools and stimulate bowel movements.

Dosage by Body Weight

The standard adult dose is 10 to 20 grams (1 to 2 packets) dissolved in 4 ounces of water once daily. Dose may be adjusted up to 40 grams daily under medical supervision. It may take 24 to 48 hours to produce a bowel movement.
