Igalmi

Igalmi (dexmedetomidine) is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It is formulated as a sublingual film and is indicated for the acute treatment of agitation associated with schizophrenia or bipolar I or II disorder in adult patients.

Dosage by Body Weight

Must be administered under the supervision of a healthcare provider. The standard dose is 120 mcg to 180 mcg based on agitation severity. For geriatric patients (65 and older) or patients with hepatic impairment, a starting dose of 90 mcg is recommended. Place the film sublingually or buccally and allow it to dissolve completely. Do not chew or swallow the film.
