Heparin Lock Flush

A very low concentration of heparin used to prevent blood clots from forming inside the IV catheter when it is not in use.

Dosage by Body Weight

Pediatric dose: 10 units/mL or 100 units/mL depending on the catheter type. Usually 1-2 mL used to flush the line.
