Cyklokapron

Cyklokapron (tranexamic acid) is an antifibrinolytic medication. It works by blocking the breakdown of blood clots, thereby helping to control and reduce excessive bleeding. It is commonly used both pre- and post-operatively, especially in cardiac, orthopedic, and gynecological surgeries, as well as for treating acute bleeding episodes.

Dosage by Body Weight

Dosage depends on the clinical indication and patient weight. For dental extraction in hemophilia, the typical adult oral dose is 25 mg/kg 3 to 4 times daily, starting one day prior to the procedure. For heavy menstrual bleeding, standard dosing is 1300 mg orally three times daily for up to 5 days during menstruation. Adjustments are required for patients with renal impairment.
