Chlor-Trimeton

Chlor-Trimeton is a first-generation antihistamine containing chlorpheniramine maleate. It works by competing with histamine for H1-receptor sites on effector cells in the gastrointestinal tract, blood vessels, and respiratory tract. It is effective for allergy relief but is known to cause significant drowsiness.

Dosage by Body Weight

Adults and children 12 years of age and over: 4 mg every 4 to 6 hours, not to exceed 24 mg in 24 hours. Children 6 to under 12 years: 2 mg every 4 to 6 hours, not to exceed 12 mg in 24 hours. Children under 6 years: Consult a physician.
