Carbonyl Iron

A highly pure form of elemental iron. It is safer than iron salts because it is absorbed more slowly and has a lower risk of accidental poisoning in children.

Dosage by Body Weight

Pediatric dose: 3-6 mg/kg/day of elemental iron. Better tolerated with fewer GI side effects than ferrous sulfate.
