Calglu

Calglu contains Calcium Gluconate, a mineral supplement and cardioprotective agent. It is vital for maintaining the functional integrity of nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems, and for cell membrane and capillary permeability. It is commonly administered intravenously to treat acute hypocalcemic tetany and magnesium sulfate overdose.

Dosage by Body Weight

Dosage must be individualized based on the patient's clinical condition, age, and serum calcium levels. Intravenous administration should be performed very slowly (over 5-10 minutes) with continuous cardiac monitoring to prevent bradycardia and other arrhythmias.

  1. Body Weight
    Below 5 kg
    Dose
    100-200 mg/kg (1-2 mL/kg of 10% solution)
    Frequency
Single dose, repeat as clinically indicated
    Tracking Notes
Must be administered slowly via IV over 10-30 minutes under continuous ECG monitoring. Avoid extravasation.
  2. Body Weight
    5-7 kg
    Dose
500-1400 mg (5-14 mL of 10% solution) total daily
    Frequency
    Divided into 3-4 doses daily
    Tracking Notes
For oral/IV maintenance. Monitor serum calcium levels closely to avoid hypercalcemia.
  3. Body Weight
    8-10 kg
    Dose
800-2000 mg (8-20 mL of 10% solution) total daily
    Frequency
    Divided into 3-4 doses daily
    Tracking Notes
Ensure adequate hydration during treatment. Administer oral doses with food.
  4. Body Weight
    11-15 kg
    Dose
1100-3000 mg (11-30 mL of 10% solution) total daily
    Frequency
    Divided into 3-4 doses daily
    Tracking Notes
Do not co-administer with ceftriaxone in pediatric patients due to risk of precipitation.
  5. Body Weight
    16-20 kg
    Dose
1600-4000 mg (16-40 mL of 10% solution) total daily
    Frequency
    Divided into 3-4 doses daily
    Tracking Notes
Adjust dosage dynamically based on ionized calcium levels and clinical response.
