Bactroban
Bactroban is a topical antibacterial agent containing mupirocin. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by reversibly and specifically binding to bacterial isoleucyl transfer-RNA synthetase. It is effective against susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.
Dosage by Body Weight
Apply a small amount of Bactroban ointment or cream to the affected area 3 times daily for up to 10 days. The treated area may be covered with a sterile gauze dressing if desired.
