Aminocaproic Acid

Aminocaproic acid is an antifibrinolytic agent that competitively inhibits plasminogen activation and, to a lesser extent, plasmin activity, thereby preventing the degradation of fibrin clots and reducing active hemorrhage.

Dosage by Body Weight

Adult oral dosage usually begins with a loading dose of 5 g, followed by 1 g to 1.25 g per hour to maintain therapeutic levels. Pediatric dosing is highly individualized and typically calculated based on body weight (approx. 100 mg/kg per dose).
